(Fast Mail News) - Angul district woke up to very dense fog on Sunday morning with less than 5 metre visibility at Angul and its adjoining areas.
Dense to very dense fog is allegedly affecting Angul town,Nalco township,Talcher and NTPC Kaniha,rengali and Pallahara area recording visibility of less than 5m each.
Angul recorded minimum temperature of 10.6 degrees C on Sunday while the minimum temperatures are likely to fall by 2 to 4°C during the next two to three days, leading to cold wave conditions.
The fog began at about 3.30 am and cleared around 8am to 8.30 am.It is alleged that due to dense fog especially commuters faced a lot inconviniences .Due to low visibility people fear to move outside during this period.On NH 55 vehicles were seen stopped on the midway since 4am.
Basudeb Swain,a resident of Nalco township area said, “Today I couldn’t drive in the morning due to dense fog.Accidents might be occurred if people will not take care while driving as the whole vicinity was covered with dense fog.I had not seen such dense fog in Nalco township area”.
Another resident of Bantala area,who is a mango farmer said,”We lost flowering of mangoes due to fog in recent days. The flowering usually begins in December-January. A large quantities of flowers are withering because of dense fog.In past fortnight four to five dense fog occurred which completely wiithd away thee flowers”.
An official said,”Though minimum temperature hovering around and 10 degree C in the morning , the maximum temperature is increasing 1 degree everyday .We expect there will be no more fear of fog ahead.While the Angul recorded 31.7 degree maximum temperature on Saturday it was 32 degree on Sunday.
