MOSCOW: Russia has registered 25,293 new cases of Covid-19 and a new all-time high of 791 deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Thursday.
"Over the past day, 25,293 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 3,016 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (11.9%)," the headquarters said.
Russia has seen another all-time high of 791 coronavirus-related deaths. There were 786 deaths from Covid-19 reported on Wednesday and 780 on Tuesday. The majority of deaths were reported from St. Petersburg (108) and Moscow (101).
The daily coronavirus morbidity level has grown, as well, for the first time this week, alongside a growing number of recovered patients: 21,493 patients have been discharged from hospitals upon recovery in the past 24 hours.
According to the headquarters, Moscow has reported 5,237 new cases of Covid-19 and 7,855 recoveries over the past day.
Following Moscow, coronavirus morbidity levels have been the highest in the Moscow region (2,444) and St. Petersburg (1,954).
Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 5,882,295 cases of Covid-19, including 146,069 deaths and 5,278,976 recoveries.
Russian consumer health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said on Thursday that Russia has performed more than 157.3 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 600,000 over the past day. As many as 1,212,129 people remain under medical observation.
