(FASTMAIL)-ANGUL,JUNE01:In view of the stiff hike of the corona cases and rising number of deaths Angul district administration has decided to enhance the bed strength of ESI covid hospital from existing 5 to 150 with 30 ICU beds.A proposal in this respect which has sent to the state government has got the approval,according to collector Sidhartha Shankar Swain.
“In order to cope with the rising number of critical patients, we have decided to hike bed strength and ICU in ESI hospital. Government approval is there and it will be functional very soon.There are existing 75 all oxygen beds in the hospital”.
Collector said, “According to a report the ESI hospital has been set up jointly by the district administration, Nalco and Delhi based medical company. As per the agreement Nalco will support some of the expenditures like payment to doctors and hospital staff besides others. District administration who works as a facilitator provides food. The Delhi based medical company as per the agreement deploys doctors, staff and medicines and other equipment in the hospital.
With the enhancement of the bed strength including the ICU,the critical cobid patients of the district will have the facility to stay in the district.
BesidesESI hospital,the district also has another dedicated hospital of 120-beds including 20ICUs at MCL central hospital at Talcher. This also has been set up jointly by SUM hospital, district administration and MCL.MCL provides all infrastructure and funding at the hospital from the CSR fund.Besides,these two hospitals there are three covid care centres operating in Talcher,Angul and Athmallik.Another covid care centre will be functional at Pallahara soon.
