Mixed response in Angul bandh call

Angul: The bandh call given by left parties against price rise of petrol ,disel and other essential commodities evoked mixed response in the industrial district of Angul today. While all the major industries functioned normally shops and business establishments along with road traffic was affected by the bandh call.

Congress supporters who supported the bandh by leftists took out a procession from congress bhawan to bada bazaar asking people to observe bandh totally. Traffic were completely disrupted on on NH 55.Shops and business establishments down their shutters in support of bandh both in Angul and Talcher industrial cities. There were picketing by the congress and left workers at most of the places of the district.

The SUCI which also called the protest day demonstrated before the petrol pumps and at Angul collectorate  today. SUCI leader Manas Pal said that the anti-poor policy of the centre and the state government has hit the people  badly in wake of the rising prices of all commodities including fuel.

Despite bandh call given by the leftists and the congress,how ever,all the coal mines at Talcher,NTPC,Nalco and JITPL functioned normally.Attendance was in full and the production was in normal.”All of our nine coal mines  were normall during the six hour bandh call by the left parties.The production and dispatch of the coal was normal.There was no picketing by the agitationists at anywhere in the coal mine area,said a senior coal mine officer.
